Game hunting is a popular sport and safety is extremely important for both the hunter and as well as bystanders.

When hunting, it is important to take safety precautions to ensure that human life is not harmed. When handling firearms, assume every gun you or someone else is handling is loaded. Make sure to always control the direction of your muzzle, keeping it pointed down or in another safe, unoccupied direction. Always keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot and check the areas beyond and to the sides of your target before shooting.

Another important safety precaution to protect yourself and your group is wear hunter orange. Even though it’s not required in all states, the majority of big game and small game hunters wear hunter orange. Since deer lack red-sensitive cone cells in their eyes, they see no difference between red or orange and green and brown, so wearing hunter orange still allows you to blend in from the deer's point of view.
