Robert Rogulic is the founder, president, and CEO of Missouri-based Tri-National, Inc., which provides cargo shipment services from Mexico to Canada through the Central United States. Over the course of his career, Robert Rogulic has employed many dependable drivers who hold their commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Aspiring commercial drivers typically go through two steps on their way to earning their CDL. The first step involves obtaining a commercial learner’s permit (CLP), which allows the holder to practice driving a rig on public roads when there is a qualified CDL holder also sitting in the cab. People wanting to get the permit will need not just technical skills, but also a clean driving record throughout the entire country over the previous 10 years and documentation from a recent physical demonstrating adequate physical health.
After holding a CLP for at least two weeks and completing the CDL training course, individuals will be eligible to take the skills test for the CDL. People intending to take the test will want to practice the driving maneuvers and inspection tests found in the CDL Manual. All three portions of the test, including vehicle inspection, basic controls, and road tests need to be passed to earn the CDL.
